Do we put this with a Mexican music genre or an Italian music genre? A combination of the two would be great! This is a weird one because Margaritas are so stereotypically Mexican, but this is the Italian Margarita. So just be smart about it! Is there a good genre of music to listen to with the Italian Margarita? Yeah, it will be stronger than having a beer, but cocktails are like that. Drink for drink, it’s going to have about the same amount of alcohol as many other cocktail recipes you’ll find. To that end, is this a strong cocktail? Well, looking at the alcohol quantity compared to other cocktails, it actually sits right in the middle. We’d say it’s a dessert cocktail for after Mexican food, but you’re also welcome to have this cocktail as an anytime dessert of course. After all, a basic Margarita is nice after dinner, spruce it up a little bit with some Amaretto to make it a tasty dessert treat. However, considering the standard version goes so well involved with Mexican food, perhaps this recipe would be a good riff on a dessert Margarita. The Italian Margarita is a little bit harder to pinpoint for the perfect time to drink one. Yep, we’re a little over excited about Margaritas. We like to have a Classic Margarita before eating Mexican food, while eating Mexican food, or even after Mexican food. For the standard Margarita, we like to think that it’s always time to drink one! This is especially the case with Mexican food (no surprise there!). It really works! When is a great time to try an Italian Margarita? The slight bitterness and almond flavours brought out from the Amaretto also do a good job combining with the Lime Juice and the Triple Sec. This pairs nicely with some of the vanilla aspects of the Amaretto. A good Tequila can have a little bit of natural sweetness to it, along with some more interesting notes from even minor aging. That said, I might skip the salted rim here, but if it works for you, go for it.We Have a Few More Thoughts on the Italian MargaritaĪlthough it’s a little bit of a twist on a classic cocktail that really doesn’t need improvement, the Italian Margarita is a whole lot of fun. It’s usually best to pair orange juice with one of those juices, so your drink has the appropriate acid-to-sweet balance.Īs with any margarita recipe, I encourage drinkers to serve them either up or on the rocks, according to their preference there is no wrong way to serve it in this respect. It's got a low ingredient count, basic structure, and relative ubiquity of its main parts (tequila, triple sec, lime and sugar), but it also has enough room to play around and get creative. The margarita lives in a great balance between complexity and simplicity that makes it an ideal drink to execute. This drink combines three passions of mine: margaritas, amaretto liqueur, and the act of “rehabilitating” drinks that many people find to be objectionable.
